What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The technology i used was:

Google: I used Google to do research about media conventions and formats of different magazines. I also used it to looks at different publishers and the diversity of magazine genres. The advantage is that it’s quick to search for thing. The disadvantage is that the information found can be limited.

Flickr: I used flickr to upload and annotate images of magazine, drawings and my own pictures. I learnt that the tools on the site can be used to analyze the images. The advantage is that all of the photos are in one place and can be easily accessed; the disadvantage is that something the web browser crashes while tagging things in the images.

Blogger: I used blogger to do a blog about all the work I have done, from research to the final piece. I learnt that put the work from the project could be put in one place and the categorized into different sections. The advantage is the all the work is in one place and easily sorted. The disadvantage is that there a lot of going back and forth through the different sections while editing.

Photoshop: I used Photoshop to create the magazine pages and to edit the pictures. I already knew how to use the software so I didn’t learn much for using it. The advantage is that it’s easy to create the magazine pages. The disadvantage is that if something goes wrong you can only go back so many steps. 

Camera: I used a digital camera to take picture for my magazine. I had to leant that I had to consider thing like camera angles, and composition when taking the photos.

Evaluation: I think that using tools such as blogger and Flickr are an advantage to doing the work. This is because using those internet based tools divides the work load into many individual parts, which all come together to at the end of the project to form one big piece of work. Also doing the work using these online tools means that the work can be more easily accessed and allows the user to easily edit there work with much interference.

Although using these tools has have some disadvantages, such as Flickr crashing the web browser while writing up tags on the photos. And on blogger sometimes the work didn’t appear right went it was published.

But overall using the internet based tools such as Blogger and Flickr is better than the more conventional methods
