How did you attract/address your audience?

At the present time the magazine industry doesn’t have a magazine just for the punk genre and mainly focus on more main stream music types. So there is a gap in the market for this magazine.
The product attracts the target audience, because the style of the magazine is fits in with the punk demographic, and it also has a big diversity of topics which would make it appeal to more people.
Also the magazine would have elements that will appeal to the target audience such as:
The Masthead; this has a big and colourful font. This makes the masthead attractive to the target audience because of its alternative and non-conventional looks which a associated with the punk demographic.
The Main images: these are of people / bands which are part of the music genre. The audience would be attracted to this because the images are very eye catching and draw the reader’s eye to the magazine.
Cover lines: Once the reader has notice the Masthead and cover images, it them shows him the cover lines which tell him what’s going on in the magazine, this can attract the reader more are the magazine my having something inside it that the reader is interested in.
Layout: The magazine uses is in a simple row of columns layout for the text, and then has the images, side bars, pull quotes inserted around it. As the layout is simple it makes the magazine easy to follow and read.
Graphics: The magazine uses some simple shape, and bold coloured graphics to make parts of the page stand out, such as the ‘’ The Angry Peppers Exclusive ‘’ on the front cover. Which is appealing to the reader, as it easily shows the important bits of the page.

People would buy the magazine because it would be about the kind of things that they are interested in, such as, punk music, bands, gig, music news, alternative fashion. And it would also have things such as exclusive content such as interviews that they couldn’t find any where else, which would make the magazine more appealing.

The USP of the magazine is that it only focuses on the punk music genre which is a fairly niche market, and the magazine also uses a non-formal language so there isn’t really a serious tone to the magazine, which give it more laid back relationship and informal tone with the reader.

I also sent out a questionnair to get peoples view of what they would like to see in a music magazine, and i showed the results in pie charts. These are shown on the magazine research section. The results showed that many people are in to music and have a small amount of income, and like lots of visual images in magazines. Knowing this I made a music magazine, which doesn’t cost much and has a lot of images so it will appeal to what that audience wants.

People would want to buy / be associated with the magazine because it is new, and niche, which can appeal to the target audience. And other people such as advertisers would want to advertise / be associated with it because it can give them the image of being new and cutting edge.
