What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think that a media institution such as Dennis would be the best to publish my magazine. This is because they do not already have a music magazine and also because the magazine is fairly specialized, so it would be a good for them as they already publish various specialist magazines like , land rover monthly , web user and bizarre.
Other publishers like IPC and Bauer already have fairly similar types of music magazines, such as NME and Kerrang.

Dennis also owns 50% of Seymour Distribution which have 13% share of the total madazine market and a frontline group. This gives them power to drive magazine sales, in an volatile market. and it also exports magazines to over 70 countries this give the magazine an option of going international .The advantages of going with Dennis are that they are a medium sized publisher so there is a good amount of distribution ( as they own Seymour Distribution ) combined with a bit more editorial independence. Although a disadvantage would be that as the magazine is quite specialized it would need a lot of distribution to get to its potential readers.Using Dennis would produce good synergy, as it provides expertise on other more specialized magazines with could lead to the production of different magazine in the future, and could possible lead to specialist magazines becoming more main stream.

  1. Dennis is a publisher rather than a distributor. It owns 50% of a distribution company called Seymour Distribution. Have a look at their website and add some details about it.
